No matter where you think you may be at in your horsemanship experience, I think it is important to continue to work with a horse trainer you know and trust.
I look at it more as a checkup then anything else, just have them watch you work with your horse, they can “see” things that well you may have overlooked. They can help you clean up, get more precise and basically refine your horsemanship.
I say this only because I had a lesson with my teacher the other day and it was so helpful. How many little things I overlook that she can pick up on. Help me see, how to get things working better for the horse… reminding me to take it back to the horses point of view… Oh sure I had things working, and for anyone on the outside they would say, yeah you had things working pretty good, but I could have them working good from the “horses point of view”… Big difference. Without building up any resentment from the horse. Helping the horse find that sunny place… Yeah.. its worth every penny.
Wow.. Its nice to have that, nice to have someone you can bounce ideas off, someone you can work with and fix things up with.
Someone you trust. Someone who cares about you. Someone who cares about the horse.
My Teacher is Bonnie Stoehn, look her up :)
