All it takes is a good leader. A person who is willing to step up to the plate, do what is required, and give a good deal. Honestly, that is all the horse is looking for.
That is level 1 in my style of horsemanhip That is the easiest level to reach, though for many it might as well be Mt Olympus.
After that you move on.. You get more refined. You hone your skills. You start playing games… you start playing the softness game… The game that says how little can I ask for before I get an ear, a eye, the muscles down the neck…How can I build softness through feel, how do I work with the horses mind…
That is harder…That is lightyears from where I am..
I still fling dirt around like an animal… Which is better then being blind!
It never ceases to amaze me..
Working with my trainer or buck they say
“You see that”…
I respond “ Oh yeah”
But you know I didnt have a friggen clue about what they are talking about!
Well let me be honest, it used to be I just nodded my head like an imbecile. Now at least I may catch it about 70 % of the time… At least I can see it
Getting it, getting the horse to do it, that.. well that is where I am still suck at. Still around 30% of the time… At least I can see it, at least I know what I should be doing.. Now it is getting it done…
Why also I can be dog tired at work, just dragging.. Get down to the barn, piddle around for 10 minutes and forget the hell of the day and just want to ride?!
