How did I get here?

Yesterday while riding Emma she had a bit of a pony break down.
Nothing serious, no bucking, but a take off..

One minute she is here with me...

The next minute she is gone... with me...

At least I was with her...

It was windy, rainy and of course everyone is up... We were heading back up a piece of trail in which I had just 10 minutes had to walk her up because she froze...

You all know that feeling right?

When a horses freezes....

Its like all the energy of the universe collects in one animal, at one point of time and if, if you had rocket boosters you know you would hit the moon in 15 seconds or less...

Now, some people feel that freeze and they think the horse is being dull, or stupid....

No mother nature is telling that animal, prepare for take off...

Now some people will kick the horse in the ribs at this point, thinking silly horse!

And you know what happens then...

Usually the horse departs at light speed, the rider, unable to keep up with the horse rolls or falls off like a sack of wet wool... If they are lucky...

My advise, unless you know you can ride is, is to politely step off...

No harm, no foul.

And then you can work, on foot the spooky, scary issue and then crawl back on and see if things work out...

In this case, they didn't, or should I say they did...

Well lets review the facts..

The fact is she bolted...

Now it was going uphill.. on one side I had barbed wire, on the other head high brambles...

The hill was slick and muddy.. It had, in fact just rained...

Now I had started to engage the one rein stop...

If you dont know what this is, or how to use it... Well ask me..

But going up the hill I was afraid if she disengaged her hind quarters she could fall...

She was galloping up at a pace I could ride, my seat was centered...

So I waited until we got up to the flat, and then I stopped her...

Rockets are still in full burn...

So I got off..

I survived the power burst, ( did not roll off ), I managed to stop her, without injury to either of us, and I dismounted on my accord...

Success! Part 1.

Now Part 2. .....

Hi Ho!
