Day 4

Managed to drag my nyquil arse out of bed this morning to go down to the stables.
Been fighting a cold and last night I double dosed the Nyquil. Slept like a rock.
Woke up and the left side of my face was puffy but I feel like I did rest.

It was beautiful going down into the stables, there was a light mist on the trees and the shading was gorgeous. I love the mountains!

All the horses were anticipating food this morning. Everywhere I looked there were big horse heads peering out to the parking lot searching for the their food person.

Marshall and Emma were both calling to be this morning so I rounded up them and Luce and got them turned out in the arena and did my morning chores. They ran around like crazy kids until I went to get them to feed.

Been working with Emma on building her trust. Getting her to reach for me. Having her search for that warm happy place with me. Today, as everyday when I haltered her to bring her out of her stall she did a quick charge once she was clear of the gate... Been trying a couple different tactics working on it, but today I sent her back in and we worked on baby steps. Wow..

Something has sunk in with her. It was amazing watching her feel down the led rope for me. I could lift the rope and send one foot 1/2 a step back, and bring the other one 1/2 step forward... So cool.

I did not have to chase her around the arena today either to halter her up to take her back to the stall. We used to play that game. Until she learned that if she was near me she didnt have to run around, near me, means getting scritches and hanging out... a sweet sunny little spot of happy horse goodness.

I have to cook tonight for 12th night, so I wont be doing much down @ the stables, and tomorrow we will be in Concord.

Hi Ho!
