ok, so it started out ok. Had some money in the bank, got to ride my horse... then it went downhill from there...
1. It rained. Soupy, soggy everything.
2. White Truck went on the Fritz...- Overheating.
3. Gold Truck making sick tire noise
3.1 Fix tires - noise should go away
3.1.1 Noise still there.
3.1.1.1 Take it to another auto shop... gadzooks.
4. Where did the money from my paycheck go?
5. No hot water in the AM shower...
6. Archery on Saturday and possiablity no truck to haul stuff...
Lovely.
Plus, I miss my horses..
7. Just got truck back, its okish for now ( ie gold truck )
Apparently when the hubs are locked I get the funky noise, when hubs are
unlocked, noise goes away.
Oh I mean I see my horses everyday... but I want to spend time with them. I know they want to spend time with me. Doing stuff, having fun, well its fun for me.!
Re-reading Xenophon... for a few pages its has a couple golden nuggets
1. Not everyone destined to train horses. - Duh.
2. Colts should be tractable, gentle and affectionate when delivered to a trainer - Yeah that would be nice.
3. Let the animal connect annoyance of flies, thirst and hunger with solitude, and associating food, drink and escape from sources of irritation with the presence of man so that they crave humans - Yes, very smart.
4. Know where your likes to be scratched - Kewl.
5. A broke horse should take the bit, and let you mount it - Yeah those head tossers must have been a real pill even way back when!
6. Does your horse leave other horses, or try to bolt back - Yeah, that sucks.
7. If going full speed is will the horse let you rien him in. - Yeah runaways suck.
8. If your horse is trouble while manouvring he will give his rider work enough to occupy both hands and a sinking feeling in his heart when danger thickens. - Been there! And that is why kiddies, we take our time, and let our horses grow stronger mentally!
9. One should not only bit a horse when one plans to ride, but other times as well, so the horse learns to take the bit when presented. - Can I get a AHMEN!
10. Never be angry with a horse because it will often drive a man to do things, that in a calmer mood, he may regret... - so true.
11. If a horse is afriad of something striking him will only intensifies his fear, and the horse mentally associated the pain he suffers at that moment with the item of suspicion, which he will naturally regard as the cause. - Its not what happened, but what happened before what happened, happened.
12.When the moment to dismount has come never do it amoung other horses but in the precise spot which is the scene of his compulsory exertion. - Oh yeah, last thing I want to do is train my horse to run to the barn.
13. If anyone proposed by a series of fast and oft repeated gallops to produce a sense of weariness in a spirited horse, his expectation will not be justified by the result. - Basically running your horse in the round pen for an hour, will only tire you, and strengthen your horse!
Things havent changed much... Well except for a few things..like
1. Put the reins over the horses head to bridle him - No, never do that, unless of course you want to chance having your rig run away.!
HiHo
LW
14. A spirited horse should not be raced against other horses, as a rule, your fiery-spirited horse is only to fond of contention. - Duh.
